Silicone
One of the reasons silicone roof coatings is gaining in popularity is its resistance to ponding water. Silicone coatings can endure the damaging effects of ponding water without breaking down , they are one of the only roofing products guaranteed against ponding water, Another great feature of silicone is their protection against U.V.rays . The suns ultra violet rays are one of the main causes in roofing system prematurely failing and silicone roof coatings can reflect up to 80-90% of the sun’s harmful UV rays. Silver coatings are usually used as a reflective top coating to protect the roof against breaking down from the U.V. rays . Some silver coating come with fiber , or rubber in the for added strength. Silver coatings are perhaps best known for having outstanding adhesion. They will fully adhere to most conventional commercial roofing substrates including metal, modified bitumen, built-up roofs, spray polyurethane foam, concrete roof deck, EPDM, TPO, and other single-ply membranes. Silver coating may also help reduce heating costs in the warmer months. Silver coatings should be reapplied every 5 years due to the coating eroding.
ACRYLIC COATING
Acrylic roof coatings provide many benefits. They are low cost, offer great protection against the suns U.V. rays, and are generally easy to work with. Acrylic coating can be a very affective solution for coating your commercial roof. They are a great product for several roof types including pitched metal roofs modified bitumen, single-ply, EPDM, built-up roofs, and spray polyurethane foam. Asphalt roof coating are a waterproofing compound that is mostly used on existing built-up, BUR roofs, Modified Bitumen, Coal Tar Pitch, TPO, EPDM, Hypalon and Gravel roofs. Asphalt emulsion roof coatings are made of asphalt emulsified with water and clay. Asphalt emulsion roof coatings will not crack, alligator, run or sag under extreme weather conditions. They’re lightweight, water-based, very low-odor and require no tear off of the existing roof. This makes them easy to apply, even for occupied buildings.
